Rebuilding for my sons 15 & 11yrs. Not to be a show car just trying to get it running again. Only 2 flat tires out of 30 years/not bad.. What were original sizes? Thanks

Welcome aboard. Pull up a chair and let's talk about 1926 Chevrolet. You have come to the right place to get information on your 1926 Touring. 6V25041 = 6-Oakland Assembly Plant, "V" = 1926, 25041 = Late July assembly date. Your touring should have a data plate located in front of the passenger seat on the floor at approximately the location of the passengers right heal. Original tire size would have been 30 X 4.50 Balloon. The current size is 440/450 X 21.

AntiqueMechanic...thanks for the reply about VIN data plate. Cannot find data plate My floor board is 1/2 inch plywood might be replacement? It is removable..(The horizontal flat portion of the floor) The wooden floor board risers which the brakes/cluch/gas/starter go through "seem original".
Would the data plate be attached flat on the floor?
I maybe out of luck on finding the VIN.
Before my original post I did look passanger side earlier after seeing post on the newbie forum with the 1927 post/Benny from Sweden I'm running some big tires preaently 4.40/4.50/5.00/5,25-21's JC Whitney? mid 1960's? 3 out of 5. Need 2 new tires..should I go smaller? I know its personal preference but I would'nt mind hearing diffrent opinions... PS where's the spell checker on this site hehehe

Hi CalvinK, 2 things, 1st, Don't get into the habit of calling any numbers associated with your car as VINs. All numbers that identify the car are just data. 2nd, thing, The "data" plate will be nailed to the sill plate at the location noted in a previous post. I would recommend you use the 440/450 X 21 tires. They are readily available from most tire vendors.

Hello AntiqueMechanic, again thanks.
I shall immediately stop associating vins with data. Educating me will help VCCA, and be less of an irritant to others. Data plate nailed to sill ,passenger side, does not exist on this vehicle. Time to move on, figure out paper work later.
Any suggestions , ideas , or methodologies on how to clean/flush out the gas tank. Aloha to all and thank you CalvinK

In most cases I first remove the gas gauge sending unit or gas gauge, then put a section of chain (with medium link size) into the tank and rotate, shake so the chain contacts every surface. I keep it up until nothing seems to come out when air is blown into the tank. Remove the chain and then look inside to see what it looks like. In some cases I then chemically clean and add a sealer. In others just blow out well and use it.
How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!
