I'm hoping someone has had experience with fold-down rear bumper guard for 1948 Chevy Fleetmaster Sport Coupe.

In addition to the folding guard, there is a crescent-shaped chrome piece that bolts to bumper together with folding guard; and the guard nests in this crescent piece. My problem is that the crescent does not conform to the curvature of the bumper. The gap between sides of crescent and bumper is too wide to pull closed with bumper bolt, although I have not tried. I hope there is some solution short of trimming crescent and re-chroming.

Crescent conforms quite well to bumper on my 41, but not perfect, but this new guard is not at all similar to my 41 fold-down guard. I'm fairly certain my 48 car has a 48 bumper, but maybe the new guard is for a 42, and not 48?

That is a 1942 guard. The 1946-1948 guard looks like a tall version of the production guards with the "point" on top facing forward.

Thanks, Gene. Do you know of a photo of 48 fold-down guard? Guy

Gene, here's a guard I found on eBay; ad says it's 46-48. Is it, in fact, a 46-48? Guy
