I am working on a 1934 standard "basket case" project. Okay, not a smart move, but I needed a challenge, I guess. This has the 181 ci "mercury" motor which has been professionally rebuilt but not completely assembled. My question relates to how oil reaches the rocker arm shaft from the pump. The oil pressure regulator is missing and no oil line to the shaft is in the box. I have a spare '34 master motor which has a 3/16 inch oil line out of the top of the pressure regulator, passing through a hole in the block into the lifter gallery and up to the rocker arm shaft. BUT, the 181 ci motor does NOT have a hole through the block and no obvious route for a line from oiling system to rocker shaft.

What's the answer, guys? And can I use that regulator from the master motor?

The best I can find shows the right side of the engine with the line coming out of a square (in the casting) near the top side of the block between #3 and #4 cylinders.
The parts book shows the same oil dist. to rocker arm shaft oil line for all models -1929-1935.

Thanks for the reply,Gene. I went back to the shop this afternoon with a strong light and saw where somebody had
taped over the hole when they painted the block. My eyesight
is pretty bad but I should have seen it the first time.
Live and learn.
