You didn't say what year. I'm assuming by the handle Billu38 that its a 1938 you are interested in. Book shows the following:

11.925 Dome Lamp (less bulb):

1929-39 Closed .......... (when switch is on the lock pillor) w/lens 4090211
1933-39 Closed,
1940 Jobs 1017-27, Ser. 1200-1500... with switch and lens............4090212

11.928 Rim-Lens-Bulb, Dome Lamp:

1934 Series 600,
1935-36 Jobs 1017-57, Ser. 1200
1937-38 Jobs 1017-87, Ser. 1200
1939-40 Jobs 1017-27, Ser. 1200-1500 Rim with lens ...............4073975
1934 Jobs 551-567-569-570-581,
1935-39 Jobs 1001-9-11-19 Rim with lens ...............4073976

I hope you can make heads or tails out of the above. This was from a 1929-50 parts book.
Good luck,

if the coupe is a Master the switch is on the lamp.
if the coupe is a Master Deluxe the switch is on the right pillar behind the door.
This applies to the sedans as well.

wazzup You shouldn't have to say you are sorry. You titled the thread, "1938 Coupe Domelite". Beamer

Unless someone has drilled a hole in a MD trim piece and fit it to a M dome light they probably won't know for sure. Here is a picture of the dome light in my M coupe.

My 2dr Master Sedan domelight looks exactly the same as Tiny's coupe domelight so apparently they are the same in coupes and sedans. Keep in mind chevgene's comment re the switch location on the Master Deluxe. Beamer

The lenses are the same in all the cars, 1937 and 1938, except the coupe lens has the hole in the rim for the pull switch. I don't think you'll ever see a coupe of these years with a pillar switch either Master of Master Deluxe. At the Flint Anniversary meet, I got points taken off because the judge said there was a nail hanging down out of the domelight lens rim. It really doesn't look like a nail with its pretty little knurled knob on the chrome shaft. Still scored just fine though. BTW if you drill a hole it will be just like factory

My '38 2 dr Master sedan has a pull switch that looks exactly like Tiny's coupe. I have seen this pull switch in other '38 Master sedans and since my car is pretty much original, I believe that is the way it came from the factory. As Gene noted, the Master Deluxe sedan dome light switch is on the right pillar. Beamer
