I seen one of thoses limos at the airport many years ago. The thing was, If you was over 200 lbs. You had a very hard time getting into the narrow rear doors. I seen a 300 lb man having to set in the front seat cause he could not fit in the back doors. The limo I seen had a very large luggage rack on top of the car. dance

There is a story about these stainless Fords, and if I have forgotten some of the details please correct me.

Before the tooling failed, about 5 were made at the end of the models normal production run.

They were made for a stainless companys for promotion etc.

There is only one known running survivor, insured for some incredible amount.

Better still here is the right story.

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Looks like solid rubber tires. No tubes or air to leak. The holes are to give them some cushion.

I have recently seen a video of tyres with the non deflatable cushion idea. I think it was Michellen brand, when the wheel was turning it appeared as though there was nothing between the tread and the wheel rim.

Many tire companies make "run flat" tires. The newer (90s and later) Corvettes do not have a spare but use "run flat" tires instead. Becomes a real problem when you buy much cheaper non-run flat tires and have a puncture.

I think this is what Tony is refering to...it's about a tire Michelin had as a prototype about 7 years ago. I've owneed many cars with runflats. I have three now. They work great. Newer Corvettes have two different size tires, they won't enterchange, you would have to have TWO spares without runflats or a airpump on board (BMW) as an example. Z rated run flats are hard to balance. I've been there before.

The photo shows a tire with holes in it. I couldn't believe they had that technology 90 years ago. Drilling holes and still having a tire reliable would be difficult I would have thought back then.

I bought a 2010 camaro when they first came out. Looked for the spare and all I got is a can of fix-a-flat and a 12 volt tire pump.

Yep.. I know what you mean. I've had this one a year and a half and drove it 5k miles. It's a RS. It has black hood inserts (my wifes idea, she had a 69 in college like that).

The Corvette and Caddy also do not have a spare.

That is the "runflat" idea I was refering to, I saw it as a short video. I thought it was just a "tyre replacement" but by your posting it is a "complete wheel".

What about foam filled tires? I heard that foam filled were OK as long as you don't do any high speed traveling. Goodyear does this foam filling, but suggest that you don't do over 60 MPH.

If you ever use Fixa-flat and then have a new tire installed at a tire dealer ,you'll sure get an earful of bad language...whata mess. It's great for lawn mowers and bikes, etc. Don't use it in a car tire unless that's the only way. It takes forever to clean up the mess.

Foam filled tires are not intended for highway use. They are used in areas where punctures are likely (landfills, farms, off highway, construction sites, etc.. The tire is completely filled with foam so does not dissipate the heat generated by flexing well.

Run-flat tires have a semi-flexible doughnut inside the tire taking up much of the space. There is still enough air to permit cooling of the flex generated heat. When the tire is punctured the air escapes but the doughnut keeps the tire from completely collapsing on the rim.

I doubt that they drilled them. Most likely they had rods run through or built into the molds.

That is not a 37 Chev it is a 36 Chevy Master. My guess on the coupe to the right it is either a 36 Lincoln Zephyr or a Studebaker
