Okay my question for you all are: What is your choice of brand(s) for keeping your rides bright and shiny??Do you wax/polish by hand or use mechanical help?? Do you like a certain brand of soap? What are you using on your wood steering wheel?

Also anyone ever find a source for a light weight car cover--More or less a dust cover?? I have issues here with humidity, so do not really want a weighty cover, because of the fear of trapping moisture under it and it causing paint issues..but would like something to just keep the daily dust/pollen in the air from settling on car.

Thanks in advance..

The best wax I found is the G.M. brand. Cann be purchased at your local dealer.
I know G.M. does not make wax, I think it may be furnished by McGuire.

I use McGuire products to clean, and shine. I use a car cover from K-Mart. Light weight, can wash in our washer. Have been using one of the covers about ten years.

I have been detailing cars for around 15 years. Whatever I use, I prefer something with Carnuba extract.

I just ordered a car cover today from California Car Covers. You can look at them on line at "calcarcover.com or call them at 800-423-5525. They have a large selection of covers. Hope this will help.

For the guys that go to Fall Hershey you've probably seen this product.
I use a product called ULTRA FINISH. It gives a slick glass like finish that lasts a long time. I use it on my 1930 Chevy and my C5 Corvette. The car has 133,000 miles and people mistake it for new. Once applied even bird droppings can be hosed off without scrubbing.
The chevy is the 1930 tan but the polish makes it look deep. They used the car in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce. The prop guys had to spray the car with dust because the glare from the finish effected the filming.

I've also used Meguiar's products for decades and I wholeheartedly agree that the final finish should be two coats of carnuba.

Although I've used Meguiar's detailing spray, I've recently been won over by Mother's, particularly when using it with their clay bar. (I use the clay bar on my daily driver -- no need for it on the antiques.) I think Mother's does a better job lifting the daily nuisances, like bugs and tar.

I also have Budge car covers for my vehicles. They make a few different types, depending on the degree of protection you desire.

Up here in Canada, the Liberal Party ( somewhat similar to the Democrats ideology)are commonly known as the "Grits", while the Conservatives (more similar to Republicans ideology) are known as the "Tories". All that said I agree with your mantra "Grits" rule, although you may have meant something entirely different!
