I need to know how much a 1931 Roadster that is original in running condition might be worth. It is in primer but needs body work, interior, etc.. Basically a complete restoration. Most of the car is there but doesn't have the original wheels.

Value depends on condition and completeness. Just missing the wheels is not a major deduction but if missing top rests, rear window frame, any top pieces or other unique roadster parts then it will affect the value. Also depends if it has trunk or rumble seat.

If it runs, sheet metal is generally in good condition (only needing a few patch panels or bump and dent removal), wood is okay and no major mechanical problems it should be in the $ 10+K range. It is a ~$ 45k restored vehicle so if you can calculate the amount needed to restore you can estimate the current value from that also.

Chip, I made my wife read what you said on the value of a 31 roadster. That hepled me out alot. I thought closer to32 to 35, but Ill go with yours. My running gear is all 100% done some wood done, but getting the rest, body getting ready to paint no real suprises yet. New seat springs and tires. Interior is not going to be cheap, but Iam in to deep now.some chroming yet to do also. Roger

Good luck on fetching 45k in this market. I feel 35k is a more realistic number.
I wouldn't expect anyone here would be willing to pay 45k....

I can't find any one locally that is willing to pay more than $2500.00 in current condition. They all say it will cost more to restore or hot rod than they can sell it for if the pay more than that! I really do need a real value as is so I am going to tell this lady $10,000 to $12,000. Unless anyone has another opinion.

Many people will give a low value as they need an incentive to tackle a project they basically know nothing about. They also don't know what might be hidden only to be discovered later. Also don't give much value to mechanical restoration as they are not confident that the work was done correctly. So you get low ball offers. Also the fact that the top is missing is a real turn off as they don't have a idea where to get one or what it will cost.

If you find someone that has experience with '31 Chevys and understands what it costs in time and parts to restore it they will pay more than the "make the deal so good that it forces me to buy it" guys.

I currently have a '31 Roadster under restoration and had a friend sell one with major body work done and new wood installed for much closer to the $10K price. It did have all the parts to complete the restoration except seat springs and upholstery material.

If you make the deal too good, I might be forced to buy it! even though I already have one.
