I want to put 15" rims from a 46 Aero on my 41. Will I have any fit issues? Drum size , steering knuckle, tie rod interference? Thanks. Joe

To the best of my knowledge, all 6 bolt chevy car rims will interchange without problems.

Joe The rims will fit, but you need to be careful about the width of the tires. Choose a narrow size about the same width as the rims, and you shouldn't have any problems with them touching anything.

15 inch wheels were an option for 1948. About 50% of the 1948s had them and they will fit 1940-1948 Chevrolet cars. No other changes are necessary ...and they may be difficult to find. 1949 and up had 5 bolt 15" wheels which are not a choice.

Thanks everyone for your replies. The whole reason I'm wanting to do this is to save some $$$. I found a set of 7.10x15 Firestone W/W's with 500 miles on them for $150 (for the whole set). I have a friend who is willing to swap my 16's for his 15's. They are on a 46 (or 47) Fleetline Aero sedan (they are 6 lug).
Do you think the 7.10's will be too wide?
Joe

The 1948s that used 15" wheels had 6.70X15 tires. They had no problems. The 7.10 is one notch larger and sould be no problem. The Firestone tires run larger (for the size) than other brands. I feel that they should still be OK.

I agree with Chevgene, I think the 710-15 tires will be OK. I have 15" rims on my 48 and I had at least one 710 on the front and it was no problem. I have a set of radials on it now (don't remember the size) and they are wider than the 710 and work fine. I think the radials are 205 75 15.

This is what a set of 710x15 tires looked like on my 52 back in the late fifties: ![[Linked Image from pic100.picturetrail.com]](http://pic100.picturetrail.com:80/VOL1180/4341552/9153654/276341437.jpg) They improved the ride and gave me an extra couple of MPH at speedometer reading of 60 MPH

Actually, there is. A difference that is. .02 may not seem like much to you over there in a hollows of Tennessee, Steve, you know, like when you-all are sitting around the pot belly and are a-talking about the distance from the back door to the outhouse, but when brighter minds over here are talking about the distance across the Milky Way galaxy then it could be a heap o'miles. Could too! Grin. Charlie

There may be that much difference between brands of tires in the same size.

About as fine as frog hair. I guess that is quite a bit.
