Thanks Mike33.....Dick Moffits seems to be a reliable source but I don't have a parts book to verify the model here. Thought open cars had chrome wiper motors? I see you are also in NJ. I hope to get my 33 Master Sedan running again this winter before attacking the Phaeton project......Jeff

They were chrome plated and also they had a heartshape where the photo shows an oval. Many replacements over the years were bought and installed on the basis of proper shaft lentgh. If it worked they didnt care if it was painted or chrome. Your car looks to be in excellent shape and was probably driven long after most were "parked". If the shaft length enables the wiper arm and blade to be correctly positioned on the glass than make careful note of this. Measure it. Sometimes these shafts are interchangeable so you can use the shaft in the current motor and put it into another motor. Taking these motors apart can be a challenge. Also take note of which side the vaccuum line is to be connected. Usually the flat part of the motor is down and the round side is up. You should see a hole in your dash that accomodates the vaccuum line. Be aware that motors with access on both sides will be available as you could equip the car with driver and passenger side wipers. Hold out for a motor in good shape and with presentable chome, they may be in the 200 to 300 dollar range. A motor that has an attached regulator nob can be used but is not stock. The regulator can be taken off with care. If someone complains that your chrome motor is scatched or not perfect, ask to see theirs. Chris

My 1935 chevrolet coupe i bought in 1970 has always had one of those windshield electric boat motors.
I guess you could use one of these on a roadster or phaeton.???
Because my new purchase 34 std roadster is still sitting in tenn. until transported here , i have no way of knowing if the electric or only a heart shape orignal or a replacemnt trico type will work and fit correctly.
What would the correct shaft length be ?
Anybody have any thoughts >???? mike

QUESTION....because my 35 chevy coupe has always had an electric wiper motor from a boat installed in it since 1970 and before, i do not know the correct answer. The name trico as a wiper motor always comes up, does anybody know if GM built their own vacumn wiper motors or did they use a trico unit.???
thanks for any input, knowledge you can share.

GM used Trico wiper motors for most if not all years. The part number I get for 1932-1935 open cars is: 367898. Since it is the same number listed in the Aug. '32 parts book it apparently was used for all four years. It is listed as "chr" = chrome.

Looked in my reproduction of "six cylinder master parts price list for chassis and electrical parts , accessories and special equipment" effective april 1st 1934. This was produced by Jim Sandoro of buffalo NY and i have had this for many years.
Unfortunately neither a wiper motor nor the part number you supplied showed up in my book. BOOOOOO HIIIIISSSSS.
May i ask where you obtained your book, is it still available as a reproduction or only as an original . I have also located 2 of those heart shaped wiper motors for sale. Thank you.............mike

The wiper motors are not listed with the windshield as one would expect but after lights, tools, rear view mirror. That may be why you can't find the listing.

the two ford chrome open car wiper motors were not the heart shape and sold for $611.00 and $715.00 on ebay early today. Belive they were new old stock ones. Just went thru my watching listings and deleted them as sold.
I did run into a heart shaped one but was not chrome.

Mike, Unfortunately that book is only the chassis parts plus accessories and standard parts. There must have also been a body book in the set that you and I don't have in that reprint.

Jim, reproduced several books and even published a small hobby "magazine" among other things. Had not heard that name in many years. Don't know if the repop book that I have was done by Jim or someone else as there is no name that I can find. In addition to the repop I have an original that has the same pages without body stuff listed.

I would like to clear one thing up here, the open car wiper motor that your talking about does not have a heart shape on it. I have documentation which shows what the wiper motor looked like in 32 which we know was the same for many years.
Also should point out, that the (31's & 32's) Cabriolet and Landau's also did not use a heart shape motor.
I know that the 32 closed car's (non Cabriolet and Landau's) did use a heart shape wiper motor. There is also the possibility that the later Cabriolets used a heart shape motor, but I don't have any documentation on them.
Also many of the Chevrolet wiper motors were the same as other makes or just a different shaft was used.
Also, that wiper your motor that everyone is talking about which has been on e-bay for years, is NOT a wiper motor for 32 to 35 Chevy's. It is missing the anti-rotation tabs by the shaft, so Jeff, don't buy it.
