Hello all. 1929 Sports Roadster AC. A couple of questions about the horn. 1. Is there any form of gasket on either side of the metal diaphragm? 2. There is a little light rust on the diaphragm, which I would normally coat with por-15. Will putting layers of coating on the diaphragm muffle it? ie - should it be just left alone? 3. The motor seems fine with a resistance of around 3 - 5 ohms and all seems reasonably clean, no leak to earth, and I am thinking of just putting it in the car as is after oiling the 2 pads. Should it as a matter of routine be pulled apart, rewound, etc? I'm kind of a follower of not fixing things that ain't broke. Thanks, Bill.

Yes, there is a very thin gasket on both sides.

NO, DO NOT PUT POR-15 (If you have POR-15 you could consider turning it in to the hazardous waste collection point)ON THE diaphragm. You can spray a very light coat of paint on it.

You don't say if the motor works. If it does, an adjustment should be made for best sound and then install it. Consider bead blasting the outer part of the horn and give it a good black paint job.

Thanks so much for the reply. The gaskets are made and the outer metal painted, and I'll put it together in a day or two.
