With apologies to John Steinbeck. The car is going into winter quarters soon and mice are likely to be an issue. I rely heavily on D-Con, but have never used it in a car. Do any of you have better ideas?

A few Bounce dryer sheets, say in any door pockets, in the glove compartment if you have one, under the seats, stuck up in the wires under the dash, anywhere mice would like to live, seems to keep them away for me. I am always sure to put some in with any papers or manuals. My unscientific method is to just put in some new ones every Fall, and it does seem to repel the mice.

Moth balls work great also. The electronic mice deterrents I have had the most luck with since is started using them four years ago I haven't caught a mouse in my regular traps and I keep baiting them but no mice or damage. swear by them.

I never use poison. Dead mice stink, especially in a place you can't reach. I only use traps.

Do any of you have better ideas? I have been preaching this for years ( Although A certain person with a 41 deluxe coupe likes to make fun of it ).....I always stuff a wad of STEEL WOOL into the exhaust pipe and then hang a red shop rag on it, to remind me in the spring that it is in there, I have heard too many stories of "MOTOR MICE" useing cylinders for low rent apartments....ED
I was only wrong one time in my life so far. But that time I was right, and only thought I was wrong....ED

Put the dryer sheets and moth balls inside the car as suggested and the traps under the car. I,ve also heard that newspaper laid across the seats helps. I put them down first and then the dryer sheets on top.Peanut butter in the traps for bait works real well for me. The D-con seems to disappear and then resurface in the Spring as I start moving things around. The mice seem to store it for later , but they like their peanut butter.

I use traps and Bounce Sheets as well. I put those baitless traps near the doors of the garage this time of year, and put the peanut butter ones near the car. My theory is that the mice outdoors will not be lured into the garage by the smell of peanut butter, and the ones near the car will lure any of the little buggers out of the car if they do get in. Bounce Sheets in the car seem to keep them out though. Mice always walk around the perimeters of a building, so set the baitless traps against the walls. One thing I will NEVER use is mothballs! I would rather drive a car with no interior than one that reeks of mothballs! If my car smelt like that, I wouldn't go near it! There's few things worse than the stench that comes off of people using mothballs! Bounce sheets do the same thing, and smell nice!

We use Bounce sheets for winterizing everything. I even put them in the John Deere lawnmower cause the littl buggers love the warmth of the engine when I shut it down! Al W.

I live in a upscale sophisticated neighborhood.....Here a simple "NO MICE ALLOWED" sign on the city limits sign works fine.

Find a local exterminator and get a couple of "Tin Cats" no pun intended. It is a metal box with two oneway doors and a glueboard inside. I have two with clear plexi tops and I put some Yummy Peanut butter inside. Catch one and you will get more when they come to feast on him. My fried the exterminator also said to put talcum powder around the outside perimeter of the car so you can see if anyone is visiting your ride.

Take a 5 gal pail.Run a string through the top and through a small tin pie plate . Bottom of the plate up. Next put some penut butter on the plate and fill the btm of the bucket with antifreze. Mice love penut butter. they jump from the side of the pail to the tin plate but cant keep there ballance and fall into the pail.

A bounce sheet in the exhaust pipe and then covered with aluminum foil held in place with a rubber band. I usually place bounce sheets everywhere in plain site on the floors of the cars. No need to stuff them everywhrer is it is the odor that keeps them away. If they want to munch on the fiberglass sheet then they are not up in the wiring etc to get at it.
