Job No. 30559 is 1930 Sedan
O 4127 means it was the 4127th Sedan built in the Oakland, CA Fisher Body Plant.

Engine casting number 835501 is '29 or '30 but the casting date of B (February) 10th 1930 means it is a '30 engine.

Acid Man....

After I purchased my 31, I had the state police come out to verify the car and they were able to 'etch' the sill plate with acid to bring up the numbers...and gave me a piece of paper that made registering the car with DMV so much easier...They didn't have to do an inspection of the car...which could save a bunch of hastles...

Not sure of the type of acid used. My guess would be muratic, or a mild sulphuric...but you'll have to ask Bill Nye for that...

Thanks...

Being an early car it would have had metal disc wheels. Wood spoke were optional. Wire wheels were a later option but don't know the exact date they were available. Maybe someone else does. Think that trim was mohair upholstery.

April of 1930. However, the Sport Coupe and the Sport Roadster came with wire wheels as standard equipment. So did the Special Sedan when it was introduced.
