Hi; I am wondering what later 235 engine will fit into my 52 235,power glide, side mount auto. I know about the oil pressuer problem, but will the water pump and trans be a problem. My engine runs well but smokes pretty good.thanks Ed

Any 235 will fit but the best bet would be a 1953 or 1954 Power Glide engine. The side motor mount brackets will bolt right up and the water pump will not require any thing special.

Doesn't the 53 PG engine still have babbit rods? I thought the 54 was the first year with inserts? I can't seem to keep this straight. Educate me. Please. hood

If I'm correct the 53 235 PG motor is high pressure and the 53 235 standard trans motors are babbitt.

I'm sure I'm right cause I found out the hard way by buying the 53 235 babbitt one thinking it was suppose to be high pressure.

YES, Edmunds41 is correct about this.....

Edmunds41 stated: If I'm correct the 53 235 PG motor is high pressure and the 53 235 standard trans motors are babbitt.

And further, in 1954 both the standard trans and the PG were full pressure.

The reason I said 1953 or 1954 Power Glide engine is that they both have hydraulic lifters and full pressure oiling. A 1954 stick has full pressure and solid lifters and the solid lifter engines sound terrible with Power Glide
