Thank you JYD.
Over the years I've aquired some rear fenders that were sold as 31 for closed car but they are not the same. I would like to use the correct ones if I have them on a special that I'm putting back together. I will request some help trying to identify what I may have if I can figure out how to post a picture over the holiday. As always this site is the best. Happy Holidays!

1929-30 passenger rear fenders look a lot like '31s if you remove the off set section at the back. It is quite common to find people trying to fit the earlier fenders on the '31. Apparently they were more plentiful in the past. They are not exactly the same size so do don't fit correctly.

There are four different commercial [1/2 ton (2) and 1 1/2 ton (2)] rear fenders one each for '29-'30 and another set for '31-'32.

Your description of 1929-30 is exactly the case. One set I have looks so close but has the offset.
Are 1929-30 the same?

You might want to purchase the reprint of the 1929-32 Chevrolet parts book from the Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon. That literature piece lists what part is the same for various models.
