Hi all, I am needing the paint code for the white paint between & behind the chrome grill sections on my '49 deluxe 1/2 ton. I have searched this site and several others and am coming up blank. Can anyone help with this? Thanks for your assistance.

This is a tough one. It has been asked before, including by me when I was restoring an Advance Design truck - but never really answered. It is a creamy off-white color, and it is named in some documents, but nobody (to my knowledge) has ever come up with a correct code or paint mix schedule. If you go to the truck parts guys like Jim Carter, when they buy the replacment grilles the white paint is already there, from their supplier. I don't know where they got the color selection, and they are off-shore. I tried following that path for a while, and ended up buying a re-pop grille that already had those areas painted! Then I matched up that color for the wheel and cab pinstriping. Unfortunately, I have since sold that truck, and cannot find anywhere I kept a record of the color I used. Chevrolet / GM didn't have any record. In the photos below, the blue truck is what you get if you buy the re-pop grille. The green truck is the original white paint. Pretty close. ![[Linked Image from i1122.photobucket.com]](http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l529/chevyguru/Events/grillewhite.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i1122.photobucket.com]](http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l529/chevyguru/Events/hooddentafter.jpg)

The original was an off white but the pin stripping was a cream-yellow. I was able to match the pin-striping as it is almost exactly post-it note yellow. But the white... well no luck so far. I guess we'll just have to wing it. Thanks for your help and the photos. I think I will print the photo of the green one and take it to my paint shop. We disassembled the grill to be rechromed and all the metal was dip-striped. Unfortunately, the paint on it was not original so there was nothing to compare it with. Thank you again.

No. Where does one contact them? Is it a web site?

Yep, the pin stripe on the green (original) truck is the pale yellow, also. The blue (restored) truck had the off-white stripe matched to the grille back splash.
Funny thing is, I bought the green truck years ago as a potential Parts Truck, to use in restoring the blue truck. Got it home, and didn't have the heart to take it apart, it was still too good - still a truck. At that time it hadn't run in 9 years. So I sorted it out and put it on the road.
So the blue truck is near perfect, and sold and gone. And the green truck soldiers on, as my truck. To Home Depot, to haul furntiure, or take stuff to a dumpster, whatever.

Mine is green also. I really like it and am doing a total restoration. The old girl never looked so good! She was a beat-up old ranch then farm truck. Thanks again for your help.
