Think what a NEW clock would be worth. It's listed as USED,and it has two flaws. I guess a fair price for a perfect new clock would be $20,000.00.

I question what happened here... How did someone jump the bid from $1500 to $13 000?? and then didn't want to go $100 more??

I picked up on that myself and had the same question...Something fishy going on here???? I think this person has a bunch of them and bid on that one his self to put a false value on them so people will jump on the next one he puts up for sale at ..say $10,000.... I think this person is "slick as a mole".......ED
I was only wrong one time in my life so far. But that time I was right, and only thought I was wrong....ED

Oh My ! Wouldn't that be unscrupuious ! And improbable...Ebay won't let you bid on your own stuff...at least not from the computer/account that generated the auction . What my first thought was that to "win" this auction , at the last minute , you can "snipe" , or you can over bid . This leaves little time for the "pack" to come close to your over-the-top bid and hense your the "winner"...but what you pay will be the last , next ( lower ) bid to your bid . BUT on occasion another bidder will use this "ploy" and you can "git caught wit yer pants down" if you know what I mean . Not for the faint of heart , this method of winning !

I went and looked at the bid history and all the bidders had funny names with a couple numbers and letters so I wonder if there are some kind of scammers out there paid to bid up the auctions.

All bidders are just numbers and letters now. So, that don't give you any clue. It is possible that someone really wanted and bid with the thought that no one will 'top' this bid and another bidder thought the same. Bet someone had to depart to change shorts.

Those "funny" names are part of Ebays Privicy Protection Policy...You wouldn't want everyone to know who's ( you's ) is in on this bid...The number next to the star ( ) is the only give-away..

I deal in car clocks and buy and sell on ebay a lot. It's quite easy for a seller to set for false bids. I've even complained to ebay about it with proof of such and they won't do anything about it. If someone sells something for a rediculus price, start checking that sellers feedbacks and see if that item ever shows up. a 39 chevy clock sold yesterday for about $150 or so. I know because I was going to bid on it.

I believe this is one of those times when complaining does some good ! I have also lodged complaints about sellers and their unseemly-like business behavior and later seen them get the "boot". After a number of complaints , of course . Keep up the good work ! Complain when necessary ! So , how are they bidding on themselves ? Kevin

It may have been that the reserve was 13K. That way seller could have a friend buy it for 13,100 if the regular bidding did not go high enough to lower the reserve. Maybe. I don't know if that happened or even if it could happen. All I know is that it appears that something fishy is going on. Charlie

I'm still trying to figure out how something listed as "Used" could be "NEW old stock" (NOS).

Who was that that said "There's a sucker born every minute". I guess the guy is trying to see how bad any one wants it. If you leave it alone and he really wants to sell it. The price should come down. After all, We ain't that stupid. I hope...

Had a quick look at the mentioned clocks pictures. The paint around both fastening brackets has minute damage indicating that it had been previously installed. One of the terminals is replaced with a modern one (blue). So its definitely a used item in good shape and that disqualifies it from called N.O.S. On the other hand if someone really pays that money for this clock I do not know, I should only bid on the lower 3 figure numbers. Jianis

I think the winning bidder thought he was buying the whole car.
