Last weekend Jane and I went through the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Lots of history, and stories of bravery and courage to see... and Chevrolet was displayed front and centre!

First up was this little gem... a 2 wheel drive C-8 CMP (Canadian Military Pattern) Truck. These little trucks did the heavy lifting during training in Canada during WWII. Most were not sent overseas, due to being only 2 wheel drive. I thought it was odd that it was right hand drive...

Next was this pair of HUP (Heavy Utility Personnel) Carriers. The one on the right is the standard early version, while the one on the left is the Officers Command Version, featuring upgraded suspension and more comfortable seating. It was produced in 1944 and 1945. GM built 12 967 of the HUP's in Oshawa Ontario, and were the only company building the HUP.

GM of Canada built over 1500 Fox I Armoured Cars between 1941 and 1943. They were used in 1943 and 1944 by our armed forces in Italy. Notice the brass GM badge with the maple leaf on the front.

Canadian troops used GM built DUKW or "Ducks" to fight the Germans in Holland and Germany. When the Germans burst the dikes in Holland, flooding the farms and low lying areas, the Duck was there to keep the Canadians moving forward. This unit was an American built boat, and restored in American numbers.

A couple of non-GM products... but interesting just the same...

A collection of Harley, Indian and Norton motor bikes, and a Ford truck used to tow artillery...
