Here is a question from a babe in the woods.
I bought my '28 Touring about a year and a half ago. Found her in a pasture, and took her in. She is in pretty rough shape. She had a glovebox or something like it that was placed on her running board. Not attached though. Made out of aluminum. I've see a couple of pictures on the internet with them on the running boards of some models.
Can anyone tell some info on them? What is their proper name? what color are they supposed to be? It was painted red at one time. Is it rare? What are they supposed to hold?
Thanks, Troy

The box was an aftermarket accessory. Think most were used for tools and repair parts. They could be painted anything the owner wanted as they are not an official Chevrolet accessory.

I have one on my 28 Touring, and as Chipper says, they are not Chevrolet. Mine has turned out to be especially handy. It carries tools, parts and some paperwork for the car.
