1946 Military Surplus. You had to buy at least Five at a time. I see some old Matchless-Indians that would sure look good in my garage. I wonder how much Five would go for? I'll guess around $400.

Wish I could find a photo of old Chevy Military cars going up for sale at auction.

Great Picture Steve......I remember when I was a kid in Brooklyn N.Y. After WWII was just over (1946/1947)They had a giant auction around were I lived, only it was all trucks, Jeeps and tanks (with their guns made inoperative)...What was not sold went to the scrap yards...ED

I saw a scene just like that in Ft Smith AR. Row upon row of motorcycles and then rows of the cycles with side cars. Didn't have any money so it did not get my blood boiling.

Ray.....I was in Ft.Smith AR. (Fort Chaffee) for a while when I was in the army around 1962. Before I went overseas.
I thought I was the only person there because I never met anyone one else that was there.....ED

Ft Chaffee was the closest base to my home -----so that explains why I was never stationed there. The Army was never known for logic. In almost 25 years and never even stopped by there.

Ray....The last I ever heard of Ft. Chaffee was years ago when allot of Cuban refugees were flooding in the US on anything that would float and the Government was putting them up in Ft. Chaffee.
I also remember visiting Judge Isaac Parkers "The Hanging Judge" Museum were the centerpiece was the gallows and the ropes that he used to hang 6 people at one time.......ED

When your wife wants you to hang Christmas lights along the edge of the roof, think about this photo. This was back when men were men and the women were glad of it! togo

Bingo, we have a winner. The B.A. Tubbs Motor Company.

Below is a scan of Tubbs' first Ad in the local paper. It was printed in March of 1938. Shortly after the picture I posted above was taken the local Ford dealer (A.L. Short) and Tubbs swapped buildings. The building is no longer standing.
