Back in 1968 (yeah I'm that old) I sold a Chevrolet 1933 5 window coupe (yeah bad move). I've been trying to find that car for a while now. I have the license plate but New Jersey does not maintain any records more than 7 years so thats a dead end. I do not know what the VIN number was and thats the real crux of the problem. In the last 40 years this car could have been restored, hot rodded or ? How many 1933 5 window coupes could exist within a 500 mile radius of New Jersey? Not many I'm sure. So where can I go from here? Perhaps one of you members may own or know where some 1933 coupes are or you may have a plan of action which has worked for you in the past. Thanks for your input which may help with my quest.....

Have you looked on e Bay? Over the last two years I've seen quite a few. I'm working on a 33 5 Window Coupe Master. Here is my blog on the project.

Thank you for your offer. At this point I'm really trying to find the car which I sold back in 1968. I feel that it is probably still around and maybe not that far away. If anyone has a 1933 5 window and knows it's history perhaps that may help pick up the trail. Some additional information, when sold the car was black with a white beltline, red wire wheels and a white fabric top insert. The original engine was replaced at some time with a later chevrolet six and when the job was done they used a piece of angle iron bolted across the bottom of the frame to support the engine at the rear in front of the flywheel. There was a trunk, no rumble seat. The inside was done in black vinyl. The rear window had no garnish molding so the glass was mounted directly to the metal frame via an adhesive. The dash was painted black. Before I installed the vinyl interior someone had taken all the inside out of the car and painted all the metal panels yellow. There was a push button for the starter mounted on the dash. All the gauges were the originals and they worked. Maybe this may help someone identify the car.
