Can someone tell me what the gross weight is on a 36 Chevy 1/2 Tn pickup that is stamped on the Vin tag? I'm stamping my own tag and need to know this information. Any and all help is appreciated......Thanks.....Richard drink

The gross vehicle weight is the sum of the average curb weight plus the load to be carried (load includes driver, passenger & payload). If your FB truck has the 5.50:17" tires (4 ply)@ 32 psi the load maximum is 1000 lbs. The average road weight(cab & pickup box) is listed at 2830 lbs. So the tag should be the sum of the two.


34 & 35 trucks are the greatest. 36 high cabs are OK too.

The Chevy Truck Gold Book for 1936 says " The gross allowable weight of the Chevrolet Half Ton Truck shall not exceed 4400 lbs., Which incudes the chassis, cab, body, driver and payload, except that when Commercial "15" or Fleetway "15" tires are used, the gross allowable weight is 4600 Lbs."
