Hello,
1) Does anyone know of someone who can repair a pancake horn ? We have a dead horn ! 2) Was 1931 the only year pancake horns were used exclusively ? 3) If not, what other brands and types were available ?

Try Bill Randall at The Horn Shop in Rome N.Y. I have an old business card and the phone number is 315-336-8841. There is no email address listed. I tried the number but only got voice mail.Might be worth a try.

Depends on what is the problem. If the winding on the magnet is toast or point insulator is broken then it takes someone setup to make the repairs and likely cost a bunch. If it is minor repairs like most I have worked on then there are more of us that can make them work.

I am interested in this post. I just got a pancake horn this week that doesn't work and I was going to put up a post about horn repair once I tore it apart and found the problem.

Typically the problem with the '31 pancake horns is a broken wire, dirty points or out of adjustment. Adjustments can be tricky. It takes some knowledge, patience and teensy changes.

I spoke with Bill this evening. He is familiar with the 31 horn and can repair them. He was at Hershey this weekend and had a 31 horn there for sale. The phone number above is correct.

I replaced the inside of mine with a 6V motorcycle horn. It took some adapting but it worked.
