Does the flywheel/clutch come out with the engine or the motor disconnected from the flywheel? This restoration is my first. I appreciate your advice and expertise

the clutch/flywheel comes out with engine you can unbolt trans from bell housing or take out the engine with trans attached.

I need more detail please! Do I remove pedal shaft and unbolt gearbox?

Problem; lifting engine vertically to clear front cross member rear protrusion catches on bottom of bulk head. Any trick to lifting out engine? parking

The 1916 and early 1917 engines do not come straight out. You have to loosen and turn the part # 786 - A, transmission support away from the engine, may be on both sides before you remove the engine as there is not enough space without doing so. I cannot remember what we did as to the pedals, etc. but will ask my friend. I will also search for possible pictures as we took some during that repair. I will be back soon.

(When you put the technical questions for your car in the 1916 - 1922 column (concerning the four-ninety alone) it normally will give better/faster results.)

Very helpful thanks. I have removed most bits and twisted engine about 30 deg up down and across!! It's out now. Need an engine support frame it just rolls around without!! Regards Leslie. yay

To be sure I had to take some pictures after the removal of Solan's engine. As you most certainly have discovered by now you divide the engine/cluch part from the gear box. The pedals must be removed as well, but you do not demount the brake system itself. Some more parts will have to be removed as you will see from the pictures below.
