I found two [I think]'51 chevs side by side in a pasture not too far from here and the stainless steel trim is in good shape. Out of the two I can make one good set except for the bottom moulding trim. The problem is that they are so full of junk I can't get into them to remove them. According to my '49-'53 shop manual I can pry some of them off from the outside. My question is , can I do that to all of the trim including the windshield or just certain ones? Thanks. The bodies are in rough shape. I plan on using the trim on my '49.

Well the center pieces on the windshield came off tough for me from the outside? Should have take the lowers off first. And I ruined part of the windshield trim when I didn't realize there are bolt type clips way up under the dash behind the lower trim pieces forsure. Take a headlamp and penatrating oil with you! Also the wiper motor trim pieces come off with a bolt type clip too. Anyway very few if any just "clip off" most have a clip with a bolt type back and a nut.

Sorry you didn't hear from someone before you tackled the windshield trim. You're right--that comes off after being unbolted from inside and at the door jambs.
I believe the rocker trim and belt line moldings do pop off from the outside. Make sure you use a trim tool to disengage the clips. It's available from Chevs and Natl. Chevy.

Good luck.

The belt line moulding is held on by bolts and nuts that are accessed in the trunk area. Can you get into the trunk? The section of the belt line below the rear quarter windows (on 2 door models) can be carefully pried off a retaining strip, which is secured with sheet metal screws.
