Hello Everyone,
New to the forum.Great website!
I just recently purchased a 1940 special deluxe coupe that needs a total make over. The car is pretty much original, but missing the running boards. Someone was telling me they were originally wood? Would anyone possible have some insight or photos of original boards?

Here's some good reading. You might like it. The running boards are steel with rubber mats.

One of the big problems with the 1940 is that there are so many things that were one year only. Makes it difficult to find correct parts sometimes. Seems like folks don't want to set up to remanufacture parts for a small audience. They have running board covers for '37-39 but not '40, and '41 didn't have any.

I HIGHLY recommend Hunley Acuff Runningboards for vulcanizing. He does 40 Chev and his work is flawless. I had him do mine 10 years ago and they still look like new, of course I keep them covered! Worth every penny...
