We'll be there, should be a good Meet. There will be a lot of folks, because the Eastern 6 Cylinder Tour starts the next morning at the same location.

The Old Dominion Area 10 Meet was excellent. The big winner of Best of Show in the 6 Cylinder Era was a 1953 Red Convertible. The owner of this car lives in Medina, Ohio. There is a rumor that he might be on the Executive Committee of the National VCCA Board of Directors. One little known fact is that less than a day after winning this Best of Show award, this beautiful 1953 Red Convertible with a white top was rapidly being disassembled by 3 expert VCCA mechanics. NOS hydraulic lifters were installed with 6 additional VCCA members standing by as expert support mechanics ( or were they just curiosity seekers ? ) Since no new engine side cover gasket was available, the original gasket needed to be re-used. This engine side cover gasket on this 1953 engine had a small missing piece of the original gasket material. The owner of this 1953 red convertible suggested to repair the small missing piece of original gasket material by folding over several times a small piece of duct tape to fill in ther gap. Do you suppose that this story is True or False?
Anonymous ps. It's true.

Maybe David is on tour with a beautiful blonde lady and that other guy is just chauffeuring her around.

I suppose that this David is on tour. This blonde lady rides with her husband in a great looking 1953 convertible. Poor David is all by himself as his wife could not get off work. Today was a great time touring Thomas Jeffereson's Monticello and having lunch at Michie's Tavern.

Ask the guy with the red convertible about transmission in a can. Maybe not all additives are "snake oil". We had a great time on this tour.

And then ask the "Dave Guy", (of beautiful downtown Canton, OH) about the battery gremlins (or maybe Zeus of the voltage regulators) that attacked his 40 on interstate 77 going home.....they really did not like you picking on the red 53 convertible guy’s method of madness….

I'm sorry I missed the tour. I'm sure there was some good bantering all week long. I'll bet the parking lot was most entertaining in the evenings.

Now with respect to these alleged Duct Tape repairs: if it is completely invisible to future judges without engine disassembly, then it is not likely to result in any point deductions! I thought it was a pretty elegant impromptu solution, actually. Carefully folded and trimmed with a razor sharp pocket knife to precisely fill the small gap where the old gasket was missing, both thickness and shape, and then carefully black RTV'ed on both sides before being compressed between the block and the pushrod cover, with the folded sides outward, there is an excellent chance that this little patch will outlast the original cork gasket! (All assuming, of course, that this alleged repair even took place...) Yes, a grand Tour it was! Here's a couple of shots of the lunch stop one day - ![[Linked Image from i1122.photobucket.com]](http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l529/chevyguru/Events/1.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i1122.photobucket.com]](http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l529/chevyguru/Events/2.jpg)

Is the green and white 54 between the silver truck and the black 51 the car that I had in Flint and left it in Michigan?

There were 3 green and white '54s there. Not sure which is shown in the photo. Your old car was one of them, yes.
