Should my Superior roadster have the receptacle in the top of the door for a side curtain support or is it not needed due to the short distance between the windshield and the top? Right now it has flush plugs of rubber in the holes.

Thanks

Most GM open cars in 24 had rods in the side curtains to hold them up and allow the side curtain to open with the door. I would say someone lost the bezels (or sockets if you will) and put the plugs in to keep water out of the door so the wood wouldn't rot. I have a 24 Olds touring that has the bezels. I think I have seen a 23 Olds roadster that had the same bezels in the doors as my car has. I highly suspect Chevy did the same.

28 Chevy LO Capitol 1 ton, 28 National 2 dr coach, 71 Chevy Custom Camper 3/4 ton. Also 23 Oldsmobile Economy truck and a 24 Olds sport touring.

Looking at my father in laws, there are holes there almost where a door lock would be today. I will take some pictures next time I am out there and forward them to you. Anything else you would like to see while I am out there? I can get pictures of it too.

Good thread, I am also looking for side curtains for a 26 Superior. Any resources would be appreciated.

Yes, anyone with a pattern, picture or source of side curtains would be useful. In my case it is a 24 roadster, not sure how they changed over the years.

If someone had a 26 Superior pattern I'd be interested too. I don't think it would be too hard to sew the pieces but I have no idea how they're supposed to work or how they fit. I assume you would make them out of open car roof material such as Cobra Short Grain and clear plastic used in tent windows. I would also be interested in a pattern for a top boot.
