Iv've got the original 235 babbit pounder in my '51 Deluxe running great. I have run across a good running 261 out of a '57 Chevy truck for a very reasonable price. If the ole' 235 should happen to hatch, would the 261 be a viable swap? How reasonable, moneywise, is the 261 to rebuild?

About the only modification would be to drill motor mount bolt holes at the bottom of the front mounting plate....and the water pump change over kit.
Would guess a rebuild job would be in the area of $2000.00

A big plus for opting for the 261 is full pressure to the oil filter. Plus a heap more power.
