I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Grant I Didnt see them wood wheels on ebay you mentioned up this side of the continent. Are they still for sale or was that a while ago?

Love them borer holes, should give you something to think about when you turn a sharp corner at 30kph. I guess that what makes it fun.

Nah, don't worry about 'em. Just pack 'em full of wood putty and sand 'em down smooth and cover 'em with Varithane..... Good as new!

With those borer holes, one thing I would worry about is the strength of the wood and the wheels as a whole. When I refinished a set of wood spoked wheels five years ago, I found a sharp wood scraper really cuts down on the amount of time required to clean up the spokes. I refinished those with exterior urethane and they still look like new. Exterior urethane has UV inhibitors in it and gives the wood a nice warm amber color.

I found a great way for scrapping wood wheels.
I have used broken glass using the sharp edge as a scrapper which works really well and cover the opposite edge with masking tape so as not to cut myself.
Beer bottles are best as the glass sharp edges dulls after a bit of scrapping so you drink the beer and break the bottle and off you go again, over and over again

Well done Grant,

Monty has his feet back on, perfect timing to have the exhaust done while you are waiting for Bendigo Swap to come around. Not that I am putting pressure on you that is. Just got to keep these young bucks on the move.

The Red Chev needs a travelling companion you know, it can be a hard, cold and lonely road on your own.

Gidday Rafael63,

I really cannot be of much help to you, firstly the "Chairloc" i just purchased off Ebay.com - I just typed in the product and up came a seller who I purchased it off, I don't remember his name...

And secondly the gearbox question, to be honest I am very much a novice and still learning about these cars and luckliy for me my chev that dad left me has only 10,000mile on it so when we opened the gearbox it was like new inside and only a oil change was needed...

Hoep you sort it out and I wish you the best of luck Rafael63.

Cheers Grant.
