I have a Hutchins ahooga horn I want to install in my 41 for parades. Does anyone know how to adjust the sound.

Ragtop,
Please for the love of God, man, don't do that! please

You putting that thang on the 41 and a-blowin' it whilst creeping along the parade route would be tantamount to passing wind at a seance. Everybody a-holding hands round the medium's table will be immediately puzzled. Because it won't seem to fit the expectations in the first place, 'cause the 41's not supposed to sound that way, and in the second place, the dead don't usually communicate in that tone of voice. Besides, whilst you're still trying to get back in touch with the one done moved on so's you can inquire what it was they were trying to say, as soon as the inevitable waif of air drifts round about, everyone sneak a peak at you and no longer be in doubt what is was that was uttered or from whence it came. You'd be the subject of much gossip and a-snickering in either case for a long, long, time. hood

Please reconsider.

Every now and then we go to Old Town in Orlando, duing the parade kids and adults yell for you to blow the horn. Seems to work there.

Somewhere on the diaphragm you should find a nut with a slotted screw in the center. Loosen the nut & turn the screw in small increments. That's the only adjustment I'm aware of on klaxon style horns. If there are others I'm sure someone will point it out. This brings to mind a question - did Chevy ever put a klaxon horn on a car or truck?

Klaxon was a GM Division so were used on many makes and models. The late 4 cylinders used a Klaxon 8C. Think that Klaxon was integrated with Delco in the late 20s or early 30s so the Delco horns from that era were installed on Chevrolets. Even then Klaxon brand horns were still sold to the aftermarket and other manufacturers.

I have to agree with Charlie on this....The only things that really belongs on a 41 is an exhaust powered Wolf Whistle and a fox tail flying from the aerial.......And maybe a few cute witty comments painted on the doors ..Like "O You Kid"...and..."Your the Bees Knees".....ED

I was only wrong one time in my life so far. But that time I was right, and only thought I was wrong....ED

Hey 32 Ragtop,

Dont worry about all those stick in the muds, people at parades love the sound of a Klaxon. If it is an 8c there is an exposed slotted screw on the back cover over the motor for easy adjustment. Good on Ya, give em hell.

Cheers

Ray

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/
