Got mine "New and Improved" G&D today, also. Pictures still look a little fuzzy. Could be my eyes. nanana

I ain't saying nothing else about it. Nooosireeee! Last month I expressed my opinion on it and got more holes shot through me than a target board at a Tennessee turkey shoot. dance

It wasn't because of your opinion, it was because you were sarcastically bashing the G&D staff concerning their personal looks and etc. I'm sure that the G&D staff probably welcomes constructive criticism, but you went far beyond that with your personal attack on them last month.

I received the September issue of the G&D today! Really slick and nice looking! It compares favorable in styling and eye appeal to another newly put together National Magazine, American Rifleman except for the amount of pages. I have no doubt that the NRA has more money than VCCA, and many more contributors of articles than VCCA does. I do like the new format and it really has a professonial appearance. My only gripe....we want more, more!
Thanks Directors and G&D staff.

BTW, I never have received the August 2011 edition...

Just one thing more. JYD I wish you would get a bigger Kodak, some of the pictures were a bit small devil

Those photos were taken with a Canon AE-1 Program, and the photo size is adjusted by the G&D staff for the number of pages allowed in the magazine by the VCCA BOD.

Ouch... Here you are talking about the September G&D -- while I just proofed some pages for the OCTOBER issue, and it also is going to have some "small" photos. But the intent was to show a timeline progression, not museum-quality photo shots. Please keep that in mind when you see it next month.
luv2

I think that you're going to see some different layout "evolutions" as the new Editor and Layout Artist experiment with some different ways to tell the stories. Change is always a little uncomfortable. When we see something that is "good" we need to let the Editor know. (I suspect that he easily "hears" about the ones that DIDN'T work.) willy

Got my September G&D yesterday. Really nice, slick, professional looking magazine. And the articles are pretty good too!

And like Mr. Mack, I'm also waiting for the August edition...

JYD, Heck I knew that, about them editors shrinking your photos down to save pages. Maybe they should look into sending a BIGGER, FATTER issue out to a lot of us folks as an email message!

I just wanted you to know I saw your story, without bragging on it and making you get a case of the "Big Head"!

Yep, I do remember the Canon AE1, I have a fine Cannon A1. It is mucho good. My modern camera is a Sony FD 83 digitual jobbie that uses floppy discs, you know the ones you used to put into your "A" drive? the drive thingie that computers don't even have now-a days? I had to buy a external floppy drive to put my pictures on this here H-P thing-a-ma-jigger I'm typeing on.

I have heard from some members that last months (August) issue was not initially recognized as the new G&D and they almost tossed it thinking it was an unwanted catalog or similar. Could that may be what happened with the missing August edition?

Is the G&D being sold at news stands now? If so it would be nice to have a separate edition just for members that doesn’t have news stand style writing covering some member’s prize cover photo. The index is just inside the front page so there is no need to list what is inside on the cover. Looking at the VCCA 50th anniversary G&D covers poster not one G&D cover has print over the vehicle in the picture. I always look forward to each issue’s unadulterated front and rear cover pictures, with the exception of the G&D title and VCCA logo. That’s my 2 cents. What do you think?

No. Only members of the VCCA receive the G&D.

Please remove the text that is in front of the cover car,I can look inside to see what's featured, thanks. Also if there are any owners of cars that are newer than 1939,please send in your stories and pictures ASAP!!! Enough with the 1911-1938 models already.

Hum......the September issue featured a 1956 Corvette, a 1940 Special Deluxe Coupe and there was a technical article on the 1972 GM A-Body as well.

This is only the second issue of the new G&D. They obviously can't feature all of the various years of Chevrolets in only two issues. The G&D staff can only publish what they receive from the club members, so you might want to send in a story or a technical article on your favorite year of Chevrolet also. I'm sure that many of us would like to read it.

Featured a 40 Special deluxe??? An out of focus photo with a few descriptive lines barely qualifies, besides it was buried in the middle of the mag.

Yes 1961 cars were featured on the July issue, first time in the four years I have belonged to this club that I had even see a 1961 in the G&D.

I am not complaining about the new mag,I am just unsure if all this change to the G&D is warranted if it is not to be distibuted to the public.I understand that it may take many months to "tune" the G&D,it's just that I have had my fill of the cars from the teens, twenties and early thirties as those are the ones that are usually featured in the G&D.If you want to attract newer members, maybe a newer car should be on the cover once in a while, just my two cents.
Understand that I am not advocating a Corsica to be on the cover mind you.

I understand what you are saying....you want diversity. Cool! Diversity is good! But, again, the G&D staff can only publish what is sent in to them. How about submitting photos of some of your cars to be used on the cover or possibly as featured stories? I'm sure the folks on the G&D would be glad to get them.

Yep... and next month you'll see a focus on 1931 cars!!! Ha!! When will it ever end???
bigl

But there is also an article about 1960 and another one about 1918 V8. So there is "some" variety. drool

EVERYONE: Pick a year and send a bunch of info to the Editor pphillips922@earthlink.net including an article about YOUR Experiences.

Like JYD say, "..they print what they receive." iagree
