Never heard them called that either. I like his description:
frame is decent, has some rust through on cross members
Five bolt rear end likely means for 5 lug wheels.

I'm getting old. I can't keep up with the lingo. I made traction bars and cool cans for drag racing in the mid 60s. I've never heard the term slapper bars. Usually a rearend like a 9 bolt ford describes the number of bolts it takes to remove the stump. 5 bolt rearend thru me off. Maybe I need to visit my local dragstrip and get a refresher course.

A 9" ford rear has a 9" ring gear. Chevrolet has a 10 bolt and a 12 bolt and that is referring to the number of bolts for the rear cover.

I always thought it was describing by the number of bolts. Is that why all the hotrodders like it because it has a larger Dia. ring gear? I know there getting hard to find. Good info Almost every streetrod has a mustang 2 front clip. I always thought a mustang 2 was a total flop and low production. ...I know Hot rodders that use an AMC Pacer front end, the 1949 thru 1954 Chevrolet passanger car front end is a much better platform, Hey! it is under the 56 Corvettes, Yuckky old Mustangs were made to cut the nose off of anyway, it keeps junk off the highway!
Real con-a-sewer restor-a-rodders use a Jag-u-war front end.
Us old Chevy folks are about the only ones that need to state the number of lug bolts to I.D. a rear axle. Some had 6...some had 5.
12 bolt, 10 bolt rear ends are I.D.ed by the number of bolts holding the hog's head in the banjo housing. Did I lose you there?

If you want a spell checker, just discard that MS browser and install Firefox. I have been using it for many years and have been more than happy. It has a fantastic spell checker built in.

If you want a spell checker, just discard that MS browser and install Firefox. I have been using it for many years and have been more than happy. It has a fantastic spell checker built in. PLUS FF is faster, more secure and more stable.

Okay...educate me. Slapper bar? Is that the orginal shocks? I've never heard that term before.  Also..Five bolt rear end? What's that? Ahhh... a Slapper Bar, that's where I met my wife. But a Five Bolt Rear End, my wife only has a 2 1/2 axle handle rear end... not sure if a five bolter is good or bad? LOL... sorry, couldn't resist!

Don't tell my con-shunse, but I went in one of those Slapper Bars, back in 1960 when I was a PFC once in Port Hueneme, but I was faster than the Sea Bees and made it back out on the street before I got slapped around, but it was a close call! Don't ask me what I was doing in Oxnard! As I remember it it was not a church outing.

Now don't try to tell us that story. The SeaBees were the construction guys, it was the SP that you had to watch out for when in town on R&R or was it D&S?

Yep, you are right and yes, it is the See Bees that you had to watch out for in that town! Maybe it wasn't named a Slapper Bar, just what happened in there.
And back then it was Search&Destroy, but all I wanted was some R&R

I usually tell people that I met her at the bar because the pole she would normally have been dancing around was closed for its annual service so she was drinking instead. This story is usually followed by a swift slap to the back of the head! The truth of the matter is I still have no idea how I actually caught her... I'm definitely batting above my average here. Funny that we were actually at a pub and was with about 30 Army mates on a end of course celebration, so like all good stories there is enough truth to it that she can't totally deny it!
