Father, You said whatsoever any two or more come together and agree and ask in Your Son's name, it shall be given. We come to you, humbly, and ask that you bring down the rain to our parched lands. Our farmers and ranchers need it desperately, as well as our firefighters. We ask this all in Jesus' name. Amen.

I stopped in Oklahoma on my way home from Flint to visit my brother. It was unbearably hot. His lawn was already burned up and starting to turn to dust. The yard was also covered with leaves from the trees that are dropping their leaves and dying. Just talked to him yesterday and his air-condition had gone out. His stock pond was dry. Mr Mack's prayer was not in jest, it is a serious problem across the mid-west.

It's so dry the faithful are praying to turn the wine into water.

Any relief in sight yet? Five (5) feet below normal is quite a loss of water. Wow! I see where folk out that way are scrubbing many crops as a total loss and livestock owners are having a rough time feeding them and selling many off at a loss. Your plight out there is like John Donne's "For Whom the Bell Tolls." The drought has far reaching effects and so the bell tolls for many who are touched (affected) by lack of rain in your area. I hope folks can hold on a little longer and endure through this difficult time. Charlie BTW: You will note there is none of my silly stuff on this issue. It's way too serious a matter.

Naw Mackie ain't you got one of those rain transport machines? I got one, maybe not recent rain but ancient rain with is better? Got a long rubber thingy that allows me to put the rain where I want it. Now it is trying to keep the house from cracking and falling apart. Grass is done! Boss only mowed once this year and the goat is crying.
Wish I could pump some recent rain water from the river in the back yard but it currently is green (like the grass should be) and they are catching reds, specs, drum. The shrimp are growing, mullet running crazy and gar cruising.
How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!

Problem is, with hurricane season about to get under way, you guys could potentially get a deluge of storm after storm all at once. Not the ideal situation either way. Hopefully that drought will break soon and things can get back to normal. (as normal can be!)

Headline in our small town paper yesterday. AREA LAKE LEVELS ARE UNUSUALLY HIGH. We've been getting plenty of rain this summer. Almost too much for some farmers but a lot better than a drought. This way we always get something. Great for my little grass mowing jobs. We did have a few weeks of high 90's but now in the high 70's or 80's. Oh ya, also keeps the golf course nice and green. Where's my golf logo? Keep the faith.
I think I'm a fairly wise person because I'm smart enough to realise I'm not too bright.

The guys like Chipper down South usually absorb most of the energy from the hurricanes, We pray for a fast moving one that zips thru the Gulf coast line snd stalls out over the heartland of Texas. You won't believe how much rain our flood control lakes and wide open spaces can handle. We once had a 21 inch rain about 10 miles North of our place one night, the lake rose 31 feet in two days. There were 30 motor homes camped on the north East shore and overnight they were 20' under water. No loss of human life, My house is 1/4 mile from the normal shore and 7 feet above the top elevation of the dam we were high and dry. Let it rain & rain & rain! Thank God we did get 2.5" last Saturday. Still dry, dry.
Please keep the prayers coming....

Speaking for myself, I take prayer seriously. I read your post last night before going to bed, sent a prayer for you and the folks who are in this draught.

Bob, YES I take prayer to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ very seriously. Some things I joke about, but not about praying to our Father in Heaven. Folks of every religious persuasion in this region are very serious about asking for rain in prayers, I am not ashamed to call Jesus Lord and savior, nor to ask for prayers in His name. Thank you.

We had a similar situation down here a few years ago. Most of us came through though there are a few scars left. At 1 stage the local authorities were considering filling the town supply by road tankers now they are putting in a 80kilometer pipeline to bring the water back that has already gone past town (why they let it past I have no idea). Bob, we did get some rain here in a small area , we got 2.5 inches, It really helped for a couple days. The entire states of Texas and the Eastern part of New Mexico is still suffering. We aren't having the damage and suffering that the country up North and to the East due to flooding, It is strange, drough in one area and floods in another.

Prayers for rain will continue. I can imagine the 2.5 inches was running off the soil, rather than being absorbed?

Here in the east we are expected to possibly get Irene by Sun.(not needed) but today at 5:50 pm we had an earthquake that was enough to make the concrete floor at work rise up and down.
If we could only command the weather, where, when and how much.
