Any one know the Original color of the Lower, Hood Plate ?
Was it natural metal color or painted ??
It's the triangular piece, with the hole in it for the retainer & spring assy. Part#3658928 {?}
Thanks, Michael41
PS:NO!!! I will not chrome it...

It was silver colored - probably cadnium plated.

"Emerald Green" You Tennessee boys are such kidders!
I'm going with Gene's answer.
Eastwood make's spray can paint they call,"silver cadmium." I have used EW products before so I think I'll give that a try.
What's the "TRICK" for replacing the hood plate to where it was before it was removed ?
Thanks, Michael41

Well Green would be consistent...as the car is Admiral green. But I think I'm going with the cad. color.
All ready ordered the paint...has to come via truck...takes days & days & days.....Oh well.
enjoy the ride, Michael41

Good Idea....I was thinking I would also put some masking tape around it, at the edges.
I do have to try out Eastwood's Cad' paint and see what it looks like. Some time ago a guy on chat said he found a Rusto. paint that was a great match for cad color {?}. I'll look for that as well.
Thanks again everyone. Michael41

You may scribe it with sharp pointed file or something. It's important to get it back where it's supposed to be. My hood keeps popping open every time I hit a bump in the road. This problem is manifest soon after opening the hood to check the oil or water. And, gets ok after slamming the hood down on about three occasions. This is because I didn't get it back just right. I may be able to pull or push it some with the radiator support rods that extend to the firewall. We'll see. A hood popping open is not a big problem because there is the catch to keep it from becoming a fulton. And not a big problem for earlier year drivers, say, of the 38 era, because they're always pulling off the road to fix something or other anyway. But for a 41 it's down right embarrassing. You know. Charlie I here ya big guy. MY hood was popping open like yours, but I fixed it. I don't want that problem again so I'll scribe, use a pencil and install some masking tape. Enjoy the ride, Michael41
