I had my headlight buckets re-chromed. The brackets with the mounting bolts were removed, which entailed drilling out the rivets. My questions are: 1. what type of rivets are used
to reinstall the brackets. Pop rivets or some other kind. 2. Should the rivets be stainless steel or some other metal. 3. Any suggestions on what company would sell the proper rivets. 4. If the rivets are not pop rivets, what is the best way to install the rivets.

Thanks for any help.

Jim.

On my 32 I used bolts that had a head similar to the rivet head. The nuts etc will be inside the bucket and not show.

Were the bolts you used carriage bolts, slotted head, or something else?

The rivets are mild steel that fit the hole(s). Haven't measured the diameter but you have the holes. They are bucked on the inside and a rounded knob is formed on the outside. I don't have a riveting tool of the exact size but a grade 8 bolt with rounded depression should make a decent riveting tool.

The bolts I used were the rivet head type as BACONFEDERATE described, but were not stainless. Not sure where I purchased them but I have seen them offered by several suppliers-F**D and others.
