The 54 has an additional pivot mounted on the firewall that turns the push linkage of the 50 into pull linkage for the 54.Going to be tough to use parts of both. The block pivot on the 54 is in a different place also. Approx 3 inches behind the pivot on the 50 motor. It appears that there is a boss on the block of the 54 where the 50 pivot would go. May be able to drill and tap if feeling adventurous. Good luck.

virg912 I have a '54 PG engine in my '50 Styleline (I disguised it with the old style pulleys and fanbelt and 2 stud cover) I'll get you a better picture of my linkage later this week if you would like. ![[Linked Image from i119.photobucket.com]](http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o125/Dmack50/103_1274.jpg) Dean

Virg912, I also just put a 54-235 engine in my 51. There is a spot about 3" forward of where your linkage swivel bolts onto your 235 now. You just need to move it forward and it should screw right into that spot. Worked great for mine.

Thanks for pics. I think if I do a little bending it will work. Do you know if the Vin # on a 50 is the door pillar # or motor #? Virg

Dean, I don't think there was a real VIN number until later. My 51 has the engine number stamped on the machined boss near the distributor, that is the car's I.D. number on the title. That is kind of a problem now a days, since engines are often changed out and have a different engine number. Back in the early 50s when an engine was replaced with one from Chevrolet the replacement engine had a blank place for the mechanic to stamp in the original engine number. I know that in Texas if the engine number is not the same one as the original title I have had to get a law enforcement officer to witness me doing a pencil rub of the new engine number on paper, to get a corrected title, or a rebuilder's title.

The number on the door pillar is the serial number of the vehicle, indicating the manufacturing plant and the sequence on the assembly line. It has no bearing on the engine I.D.
By the way, I thought you were selling your car, as per what you posted a while back.
