For yars I have been interested in old roads like they were back when the car was a sprout. My Grandma and her family went from Indiana to Idaho to visit relatives back in 1919 and took a new at the time Nash touring car. They drove the PPOO hwy which many people never heard of. The Lincoln Hwy is well known but the Pikes Peak- Ocean to Ocean Hwy is almost lost to oblivion. There are sections of these old roads that still exist where the new hwy bypassed and some are really cool places to take pictures of really old cars. Newport Hill Climb in Newport, IN is a very old alignment of US41 and has a huge old car event on the old hwy. US40 or the National Road still has many miles of the old brick hwy right next to the new hwy40 in far western Illinois near the Indiana line. I saw that years ago and was amazed those guys layed that brick for all those miles, talk about an aching back! Here is a website I found that lists several old roads and has lots of pictures! I plan on taking several of my cars to these areas and get some shots. Might be an idea for a tour also! Anyone else want to meet up on US40 and get some shots, maybe before Newport Hill Climb? Bob, That sounds like that would be fun. I need to get the car back together before I can do anything else. Hopefully it will be sooner than it looks. Ken

Glad to hear you made it back alright and got your tire troubles taken care of! I am just now settling in after being on business trips and having family visit (took them out in the 1931, dad was really impressed with how the engine is running now). I just now had time to really sit down and read the posts I have missed pretty much since Flint! I would definitely be interested in joining you for some photos along US40 before the Hill Climb. I have traveled down some of those bridges in the website you posted (probably not the best idea in a car after seeing them in daylight! ) and would love to snap some photos of the car in front of some of them. Perhaps I will see if I can rally up some of the other Indiana folk and see if we can get a tour going on this.
