I have a Chevrolet 6 cylinder engine and transmission, that was removed from a Hupmobile. The engine was transplanted in the Hupmobile about 30 years ago. I do not think the engine has run in at least that long. The starter is shorted and will not crank the engine, but it turns over with a flywheel tool. The plugs and points look almost new, and the rockers and oil looks clean. I would like to find out what this engine is for, year, cubic inch, etc. I would also like to find a restorer that can use it, as I have no need for it. The best I have come up with is it may be a 32-36 207 engine, or 37-52 216 engine. The numbers I have are as follows: Cast in block right side - A 76 1782594 Stamped on machined surface between fuel pump and distributor - T5571126 Cast in exhaust manifold - 837309 Starter marked - Allison # 73BG Generator marked - Delco remy # 9360 26514 or 936J 26514 and Made in Canada Carburetor marked - Tillotson YR2 Made in Toledo Transmission marked - CR3118 on a surface on top rear of trans. Thanks for any help

Thanks for the reply Chev Nut, and Junkyard Dog. The Hupmobile I removed the engine from came from Canada. Is this engine of value to anyone? I was hoping that someone would want it for a restoration or a spare. I have the engine & transmission against the wall in my garage, and I would like to have the space back. If anyone is interested make me an offer and pick it up.

1. 1936ChevyOwners@yahoogroups.com is the address for the 1936 Chevrolet Owners Group amazingly!
2. Yes the engine does have a value! It is as as has been said a 1936 Model 207, assembled in the Walkerville, Ontario Plant of General Motors Limited, and the casting date code A 7 6 indicates casting possibly by Walker Products Limited, Walkerville or by McKinnon Industries Limited of St. Catherines, Ontario..the generator was produced in a building just across from the foundry and where the gears were made for the gearbox!
However note that the Engine Number has a 'T' prefix, indicating that this is a heavy truck engine, from 1-ton Chevrolet up to a Maple Leaf 2 1/2 tonner, not from a passenger car or light pick-up.
