hi All, another joyous day owning a Chev 4 ! was replacing a snapped axel in my 28 Chev 4 today and when i tried to fit the spare I had, found the spline was just a bit too big, Chevguru tells me it is a later 29 - 32 axel so i am offering it up as a swap to any one who can help me out, it is a fine axel very clean in the key way and spline just no good to me, RAY Sydney Australia. PS does this site have a swap posting I noticed the forsale ones

Ray, A 1929 axle shaft measures 1.130" across the splines, A 1930-31 axle shaft measures 1.225" across the splines. 1930-1 shaft Diameter at the bearing is 1.378, and is the same for early production 1932, with late 1932 shaft bearing diameter 1.575"

Hi Ray,
Chev Rear axle shafts 1925 to 1929 are the same part number.
When I reconditioned my rear axle I used replacement axle shafts from Billy Possum in the States, as they are made out of a higher grade steel. The Filling Station sells them also, but Billy Possum makes em.
Good luck.
Ray
Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great" I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/
