I purchased a rebuilt AM/FM (Slider) radio for my '69 Chevelle back in the early 1990's from a guy in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It worked Perfectly for years. The car was then stored for 12 years with zero useage. I'm just getting it ready to put back on the road and now the radio is acting up.
It powers up, the light for the dial comes on. The sound out of the speaker is really faint and then it just completely fades away. When I turn it on again quickly, it has a strong static sound out of the speaker and then it fades again. All of the connections seem to be good.

Any suggestions to what is now wrong with this radio?

You are in the area of all transistors so it can be a number of things. Contact a radio repair place and ask if they work on the old transistor radios.

Thank you both. I'll take the radio out and send it to a repair shop. I'll update you with the actual diagnosis.
