I just recieved this in my email. I don't know the sender or Chip Boyd. The following is the email:

" CarolyneGray CarolyneGrayyeaw@juno.com

From: CarolyneGray (yeaw@juno.com)
Sent: Thu 7/07/11 3:11 PM
To: carolynnancy7@gmail.com "

"Attachments, pictures and links in this message have been blocked for your safety.

"I am restoring a 29 Phaeton here in Tucson and need some moral support and technical advice. Am looking to find others in Tucson or Phoenix area with Chevys of this age. Chip Boyd gave me your email address. Would you be willing to swat info/stories/help on these beautiful cars?"

It's tempting to open the attachment but not from this email!!
Anyone else get anything like this or know if it's for real?
I think it is an out and out scam!!

The email is not a scam. I have known Carolyn and her husband (now deceased) for many, many years. They used to live near me before they moved to Arizona.

I received an email from her regarding her 1929 Chevrolet as well. Chip Boyd is a regular on this site with 990 posts and he also has several 1929 Chevrolets.

Why would "chip" be handing out email addresses, as stated in the email?

That is exactly correct. Carolyn is a fellow VCCA member now living in Tucson who is trying to restore a 1929 Chevy Phaeton. She asked me for help, since I've restored a couple of them, and said she could not find any nearby VCCA members in the Tucson area with expertise in the 1929-32 Chevys.

At that point, I went through the "User's List" of this site, picked out you two guys as fitting the bill and copied your email address from your profile. I passed those emails to her and suggested she contact you. Maybe I should have asked you before doing that, and if so, please accept my apologies. I just figured that you wouldn't have posted your e-mail addresses in your profiles if you didn't want people to contact you.

In any case, this one's legit. I agree that it's wise to be careful about these things. Again, my apologies.

All the Best, Chip
