what year did chevy go the the spin-on oil filters? thanks.
Contrary to the rumors, I'm making great progress on the bulb. So far I have found 169 things that won't work.---Thomas Edison.

I had a 1968 C20 with a 327 that still had a cartridge filter. I think that the change was in 1969 or 1970.

Boy, I'm on shakey ground here (sorta disagreeing with Gene) BUT my 68 Impala convertible, purchased in 1991 from the second owner, had a cartridge, not spin-on. It had a basic 327, 275hp engine with a TH-400 trans. I was told it had the original engine and trans. Also was told it was an "early" car. Would being an early '68 make any difference???????

Rockauto sells both types (cartrige & spin-on) for the 68 327-275HP engine. My 68 Sport Sedan with 327 275 Hp and TH400 had a spin on when I changed it after I bought it. The original, to me, was one from a quikky oil change place , not a name brand.

In the early 70's I worked in a gas station and it was common to install an adapter so a spin on oil filter could be used. Don
