I imagine this has been asked & answered several times, but I never have luck searching archives.
Unable to remove light switch from dash of 48 Chevy car. I know shop manual says to press down on spring to release shaft, but either mine is malfunctioning or I'm not pressing correctly. Not even sure I'm pressing spring.
Can anyone give any tips? Does anyone have a really good close-up photo of the switch?
Thanks, Guy

41guy I am not sure how far back this applies but the 48 to 79 GM cars in Aus pull the switch to headlight position then press the (spring) button on the side of the main body of the switch then pull the rod from the unit. To refit simply push the rod in until you feel the clip fall back into its groove. Tony

Make sure your battery is disconnected when you do that. There is current present there, and you don't want it to arc on something important!

The 1948 and 1949 switch is the same....some times necessary to spray a little WD40 up in there to get it to release.
