Hello, I am searching for information for a friend who does not have a computer. He has a 1933 chevy coupe, that is all orginal, with 33,000 actual miles. The problem he has is the ingnition coil has gave out. He says the coil on it looks nothing like the coils at the local parts store. I have not been able to see what he is talking about because we live 200 miles apart.
If anyone out there has replaced a coil on a 33 chevy so help would be appreciated. Where do you locate a coil? and if you have to use a replacement what do you have to do to make it work?
Thanks Joe.

The coil looks different because it has a "cap" that fits on the top.The wire from the ignition switch runs thru an enclosed cable that is attached to the cap. This was done to make it theft resistant. The 1933 thru 1940 Chevrolets used a simular system.I may have an extra new Delco replacement coil for it-will check it out and reply on Monday.
