I replied to this a while back, and it seemed to just go out into the ether and disappear..... So anyway, here goes again.

I think that if using sheet metal, you'd want to use as thick a sheet as possible. I think that if I were doing one, I'd want to do a double thickness, so that what hits the bottom doesn't show up on top.

Triple plating chrome top and bottom would also add to strength and prevent twisting and rippling; eh, wawusit? ;-)

Another thing I was thinking was to drill holes at the bumper brackets and use J-bolts with acorn nuts or bumper bolts with brackets to hold it tight against them. I just really hate rattles and search them out and do what's necessary to stop them!

He made this out of 14 gage and welded it to a 1/2 by 1/8 strap for the edge going toward the bumper and 3/16 rod on the other side. If you have a pattern it could be made up by a fabricator , even I could make one idea It is very strong and doubt it would rattle at least I hope so as i hate rattles too mad

Steve;

He has a car that he bolts it on before he completes it so I would guess he could build it anyway you like. Just make sure he knows you are going to chrome it so he welds up all the seams. Why are you waiting for fall?
