After 6 trys at making the perfect template, I finally have one that fits correctly. I had a hard time finding someone with a SURGER to go around the outside edges and make it look like real factory carpet instead of just laying an old piece of carpet in that looks bad. I have the brown paper template if any of you coupe guys want to BORROW it.I haven'tfound a brake and gearshift boot I like yet . I have the orginals but they don't look very good. I'll post photos of a completed job after everything is finished.

I'll keep the photos of the ole green coupe hidden...grin

Hey Steve,

Another GREAT addition!! Looks terrific!! Will be PERFECT when you get
the new boots. I wonder if you could "polish" up the old boots with some
Meguiar's "rubber treatment" stuff??

Anyway, the carpet looks great! Way to go!!!!!

Bill.

I've got some stuff that makes old rubber look like new, I just haven't got to it yet. Thanks for the good comments.

Looks like it was made for it. I've never seen a carpet/mat run down the side of the seat. How do you hold it in place?

It pretty much lays in place. You could use Fel-cro from Home depot if you need something to help hold it.

At least a half a dozen trys.I bought some wide brown packaging paper and kept improving on the mistakes until I liked it. It's time consuming but carpet that doesn't fit looks really bad. I bought the new black rubber mat thinking it was ready to go,but it has NO PRE CUT holes! The tan mat was $400 !!!! I decided to go with carpet. The SURGING was was the largest expense ($90). The carpet was cheap because it just isn't that large an area. The trunk area is next. The SURGING will be alot more expensive because of the overall lenght. yipp

Nice job.....But I think you are loosing your keen sense of design....I would have expected a RED & YELLOW SHAGE.

I used to live in an area that made carpet and several small shops would surge the edge of the carpet and it was not too much at the time. I did my 60 Corvette and the surging was really reasonable. This was in Chatsworth, GA and I'm sure someone in Dalton, Ga could help too.

Thanks. I forgot about the carpet capital of the world,Dalton Ga. I'm 125 miles north, I guess I could ship it to them. I'm usually trying to get something made that needs explaining or I end up doing it twice because I want changes. We bought an entire house full of carpet a few years back from Dalton. I wish they were a little closer. Thanks.
