No, the manual transmission engine uses the two field starter while the Power Glide engine uses the 4 field starter.

So the 54 PG one should still work with the 3spd? I was concerned about the matchup with the flywheel.....Virg

GM parts book shows 49 to 54 starter as being the same, whether stick or automatic. Starter drive is the same, as well.
