Whilst scanning down to the forth photo site 42Bill sent regarding the 41 wagons, I noted Mike's nice green 41 coupe (or 2-door sedan if you're from Colorado). Beautiful green car. dance

Anyhow, I noted the list of accessories for it. They were interesting. There are as follows (with comment by me):

a. 5-Band Radio. Check. Although I can't see it. (As with some of the other accessories claimed.)

b. Rear Wheel Skirts. Fender skirts? He claims they are in storage. Well, I have 15 sets of them but I can't show them to you because they are all "in storage." You know.

c. Sun visor. All the 41 cars came with two of them. No big deal. Or, do you think it was meant to include that awful looking thingee a-hanging above the windshield? If so, was it the intent to fool all the world in thinking that thang was a genuine accessory actually offered by Chevrolet. Hmmm.

d. Art Deco Vanity Mirror. What is the "Art Deco" part? Charlie to Mike: I done gots me a vanity mirror for my 41." Mike proudly smirks back at poor ol' Charlie: "That ain't nottin. I gots me an Art Deco one. Ha, ha."

e. Flying Lady Hood Ornament. Check.

f. Washboards. Check.

g. Original Rims with Correct Paint scheme. "Original rims?" Wow! How rare can that be?

h. Rear License Plate Frame. Just a claim. Kinda like the skirts. You know.

i. Radiator Overflow Tank. Another claim. Lets give him this one. He wouldn't fudge on that.

j. Windshield Washer Reservoir. Just the reservoir? Because he didn't claim that it was hooked up and functional maybe we should give him this one, too.

k. Wind-up Clock. Because all Special Deluxe came with a clock, I think he was just padding the list here. Shame. hood

l. Extra Front and Rear Bumper Trim. What gives with the word "extra." If he has extra then I want some of it. We all need to share. Don't we? Hmmm.

m. Rear Bumper Protector. I'll give him this one. Only thing is, I have never seen one. Do you reckon he meant "Trunk Protector/Guard?

Make you wonder who was writing the script for the post. Doesn't it? Does too.

Anyhow. betcha the writer could work for a restaurant and describe plain old fried chicken as: "Succulent, young, free range, pampered pullet that has been individually selected just at the prime of its life for your dining pleasure. It has slowly sauteed in butter with more herbs and spices that Col. Sanders ever thought of. Served pipping hot with your favorite side dishes selected from our own garden and hand picked for optimum freshness just about the time you sat down to order. These accessories to your meal are the original and not some ol' cafeteria style institutional stuff." See?

The lister for the accessories for the post must have misheard Mike. We all know that he surely would not have been so ... well, ... er, inaccurate had he done the script himself. If he did write it, surely then, he would have thought that he'd be discovered someday. Surely not. Say it ain't so, Mike. Grin.

Ahhh, accessories, accessories, accessories. The list is seemingly endless, as are the views and opinions.

But here’s reasonably accurate list of accessories & “standard” items on or near my 41 Special Deluxe Coupe. I say near because some of them have not been installed, yet.

Many of the items/accessories came on my car and some I've added. They are OEM, or Repops, but all are fun!!

1. Canvas Tool Kit w/Verick Tools, oem/repop
2. Jack, Stand & Lug Wrench, oem
3. 96” Whip antenna w/Red Ball Antenna, repop
4. Grill Guard Bug Screen, oem
5. Rear Bumper Guard “Fold Down” oem
6. Rear Bumper Tips {wrap around}, repop
7. Front Bumper Tips & Grill Guard, repop.
8. Guide Fog Lamps, oem
9. Passing Light, oem
10. Fender streamliners {Rear Skirts} w/molding, oem/repop
11. Locking Gas Tank Cap, repop
12. Peep Mirror, oem
13. Fender trim {wash boards}, repop
14. Wheel Moldings { beauty rings}, oem
15. Radiator Ornament {flying Lady}, oem
16. Electric Visor Vanity Mirror, oem
17. 9 Tube, Short-Wave & Standard Radio, oem
18. Front & Rear Heater {under front seat}, oem
19. Heater Shut Off Valve {on water pump}, oem
20. Direct Dual Defroster, oem
21. Windshield Washers & Reservoir Bottle, oem/repop
22. Umbrella holder, repop
23. Overflow Return Tank, repop
24. Back Up Light, oem
25. Cat’s Eye Cigarette Lighter, oem
26. Turn Signals {not 41 acc.}, repop
27. Interior Glare-Proof Mirror, repop
28. Wind up Clock, oem
29. Rubber Fan/Defroster, oem

There are another 10-20 accessory that were offered for 41, if you don't count duplicates like radio's etc. But I have enough.

I've used a list from Ron Wade's catalog showing his beautiful 1941 convertible that's full of accessories, the 1941 Chevrolet Accessory book, VCCA.ORG and some other guys to document the items/accessories on my ride.

Sorry Richy, I know what you think! bigl

Enjoy the ride,
Michael41
