I've read in pasts postings that the correct aluminum trim is no longer available for the Chevrolet cars.
LeBaron Bonney (hampton coach) shows Hidem and wire-on for trimming out the vinyl top. Which one is better?
They also show aluminum trim for their "other F cars" are any of these close to the Chevy trim?

Neither is a good option but may still be the best available. The fold over hidem welting looks the closest and better than the on that splits in the middle. Don't think that any other trim is close to what Chevy used.

I am in process of investigating what it would take to have some of the original type re-made. Minimum run amounts are a big consideration.

I would be interested in the roof trim for a 1929 coach and sedan if you are successful in having some of the original type re-made. Let me know if it happens.

Chipper you might as well add me to the list of people interrested. I have a 1929 Sedan.

I would also be interested in the trim for my '31 5 window coupe. Thanks!

Now all I have to do is find 497 more people who want some of the molding. That is unless I find an extruder with less than 1000 lb minimum order and reasonable cost.

Thanks for the info Chipper. I would like the original trim as well, but for now I will have to use the fold over hideum.
Which way should the opening face, to the inside of the car?
Should I seal up the edges with clear caulk or silicone to keep water from seaping under the vinyl roof? Any other tips or suggestions?

Thanks

It should fold toward the outside. It is much better to stretch the molding than to try to compress it on the bends.
