I have a windsor blue 1950 convertible. I plan to replace the top. What is the correct fabric and color, inside and outside? I have the correct glass rear window and frame.
Any help would be appreciated. Rich James

Tan. I will check this from the dealer book for 1950, sometime this weekend, and add another posting if this is not correct.

Rich, Jim may be right on this. I don't know. I assume that Windsor blue is a dark blue. Accordingly, tan (inside and out) will look really nice. Nonetheless, I think black (inside and out) would look better. To me, there is just something about tan and blue together that doesn't seem to show the car in its most appealing way. Both may have been offered in the 1950 production year. Again, I don't know. As to the "canvas" I think the "Stay-fast" is superior to other materials (and more expensive). I believe that LeBaron-Bohonny uses this material in their "Hampton Coach" offerings for Chevrolet. Although, it provides for a smaller rear view area, you will be pleased that you are using the correct small rear (frame and glass) window instead larger vinyl one offered for 51 and later. Charlie

Thanks Guys. Nice car Brewster, mine looks like yours presently but needs a new top. A convertible top installer tells me that if I use a tan top I should get tan over black inside since the frame is black. It is presently tan on both sides. I appreciate the input and would still like to know what is right. I have never seen a windsor blue car that did ot have a tan top.

I wish that was mine! I just grabbed the pic off the net. That one belongs to Dick Olsen, also a VCCA member. Mine is black with an incorrect white top...

Dick's car was voted "People's Choice" at the 2009 All-Cal in Rohnert Park, CA last May. And there was a number of really nice cars at that meet....

I decided to use a tan top with tan inside and tan pads. Does anybody know who sells a tan boot? Also, did they come with a boot bag? If so I need a description of it.

The 1953 parts book lists a top boot bag for 1942-1953 and cost was $3.00.suspect it was made of a heavy cloth. The 1959 books lists a top boot bag for $1.50 for 1942-1959 ( replacement for earlier years) and I remember them, they were a heavy black plastic bag.
